Kittens in need of a home.

One of my clients has been on a one woman crusade to spay and neuter all of the stray and feral cats that have decided to call her yard and house home. She has paid for all of their surgeries out of pocket. Currently, she has approximately 30-35 cats and kittens that she cares for. There are 4 little kittens that she is trying to rehome currently. They look to be close to 3 months old now. Three of them she is not certain on gender at this point -the 2 gray ones, one which is short hair the other which is long hair and a little orange and white one. There is also a little calico which she believes to be female because most calicos are. Day of Registration begins at 8:30 am
Hound Hike begins at 9:00 am

Held at: 123 S. Esplanade (South Parking Lot of Community Center) The walk will start at Landing Park and head west along the the 3 Mile Creek and turn aound at Haymarket Square ending back up at Landing Park which is just over 2 miles.

$20 Registration Fee for 1st dog & $10 for one additional family dog. Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times!! Maximum 1 dog per adult and no handlers under 10 years of age.

Your dog must be social, medically able, current on all vaccinations and wearing ID tags. No females in heat, aggressive dogs or puppies under 3 months of age are allowed.


This walk is to raise money for the Leavenworth Dog Park Project.

Matted makeover

This is Puddles an incredibly sweet little Shih Tzu. Puddles was pretty matted when she came to see me so the best solution for her was to shave her down and start all over again. She was so glad to get rid of the matts. She felt a lot better afterwards and seemed happier. :) Pictures are before, during and after her groom.

Yesterday I spent the day in Omaha, NE at a groomer's roundtable/open house at Jeanneworks. Jorge from the first season of Animal Planet's Groomer Has It was there. Such an entertaining and down to earth guy. He's a very charasmatic man. I had the opportunity to chat with lots of other groomers from the midwest and picked up several new tips and tricks along the way.

Website is Live!!

The new and improved website for Hair of the Dog Salon has officially gone live this afternoon. :) There's a couple adjustments to make later on today..but it's almost finished. Thank you very much Holan for all the work you have done to put my site together for me. Very much appreciated. :)

Sugar Scrub Info

Your dog’s skin is exposed to hot and cold weather on a daily basis and this can cause their skin to become dry, itchy and flaky. Sugar scrubs exfoliate the skin and deep cleanse it. They are great for all skin types without clogging pores and are absorbed completely in about a minute. Glycolic acid, the part of the chemical family referred to as alpha-hydroxy acids, is a naturally occurring compound in sugar. Alpha-hydroxy acids work by stimulating dead cells on the surface of the skin and inside the pores so the dead cells can slough off more easily. Renovations continue...

The renovations are coming along at a much quicker pace now. Hopefully they will be wrapped up by the end of this week. I am very excited to get my things moved in and settled so I can get back to doing what I love most.
